In 2010 LEGO released 12 Creator sets. The largest Creator set from 2010 was
5893 Off-Road Power with a piece count of 1061 and a retail price of $89.99. The current estimated value of all these Creator sets from this year is about $694.89 which represents a 257.4% growth.
The LEGO Creator theme consists of a variety of subthemes that revolve around sets that focus on buildings, creatures, vehicles, robots and recently more specialized sets such as botanical and even the Chinese New Year. Many of these sets have fallen under the 3-in-1 label which include instructions in a single set to provide multiple alternative models. Originally created in 2001 with a focus on larger bucket sets, the LEGO Creator theme has expanded outside just bricks to later include minifigures.
2010 LEGO Sets
2010 sets the stage for a massive investment opportunity for future collectors with the release of the Series 1 of the Collectable Minifigures. In addition, LEGO introduced the Cars theme and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 was also released. However, a number of themes and subthemes were retired including Agents, Bob The Builder, Indiana Jones and Thomas and Friends. For the Star Wars collectors, LEGO celebrated the 30th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back with a number of special sets. Additionally, LEGO and Disney released a bunch of different Disney subthemes.
