LEGO 6990 Monorail Transport System was a 731 piece Space set with 5 minifigs released in 1987. It includes a monorail track with two way stations and a monorail train, a cargo spacecraft, two containers and five (blue and yellow) Futuron astronaut minifigures. The monorail ran on a 9v train system. It was also called "Space Trak Centre".

“A working electric cogwheel monorail! There’s so much going on here. I love the larger base with the two transparent blue quarter domes that move. Two bases, a monorail with vertical ramps, cargo crates, loader vehicle, five astronauts, a small scooter, etc.”

About Space Futuron

Futuron was a LEGO Space subtheme released between 1987 and 1989 whose storyline featuresd a group of civilian space explorers that competed against the astronauts from Blacktron. Futuron was the next generation of Classic Space inheriting its white-and-blue color scheme and the same logo. Futuron sets comprised two large ground-based installations, the Monorail Transport System and various spacecrafts, ground vehicles and rovers.

Futuron consists of 18 sets that ran from 1987 to 1989. As of today, 6990 Monorail Transport System is the most valuable Futuron set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $2,507.
