LEGO 520-2 2x2 Plates was a 40 piece Classic set released in 1962. This is the cardboard box version of the set. Different versions of the box contained various brick colors that include red, white, yellow, blue green, trans-clear, black, light gray. The version in the US and Canadian had 40 parts and the European version had 46 parts.

The current value for a new and sealed 2x2 Plates is estimated at $35 with an average yearly gain of about 8% which is higher than other Supplemental sets. The current used prices for 2x2 Plates can be found in the range of $18 and $43 depending on the set's condition, with an average price of $22 if it is in good overall condition.
2x2 Plates is a pretty rare set these days as we have not seen set 520-2 currently for sale online or in retail in new and good condition in over one year. The current value of this set might be slightly higher then what we have estimated at this time. The last brand new 2x2 Plates seen was sold on ebay.com.

About Classic Supplemental

Starting in the 1950s LEGO began individual parts sales, a practice that began with the Ferguson Tracktor in 1951. LEGO would supply dealers with wooden parts boxes and refill packs. These individual part sales would continue, at least in some markets, into the late 1950’s.

Supplemental consists of 140 sets that ran from 1960 to 1971. As of today, 890-2 Lockable Storage Box is the most valuable Supplemental set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $373.
