148 Central Station was a 293 piece Trains set released in 1975 that includes a red railway station, and five LEGOLAND minifigures. It was designed to be used with LEGO 4.5V / 12V train sets.
Central Station is an extremely old and very rare LEGO set. We have not seen set 148-1 currently for sale online or in the hundreds of retail stores in good/new condition in over 1,167 days. Because of the rarity of this hard to find set the current estimated value of $755.67 might actually be much lower than the true value, assuming this set can be found for sale.Because Central Station is a very old set from 1975, finding it in a sealed and good condition might be difficult thus making the true value even that much higher.

“The Lego 148 Station is the first building piece that includes minifigures. The set includes 293 pieces, including the 5 minifigures and baseplate, and 6 pieces of track. I’m not really sure if it is a 4.5 or 12 volt line, because with the 12 volt line, they still use those... More blue tracks, but you can put the metallic track in the middle. So I consider it both.”

About Trains 4.5V / 12V

In 1972 LEGO released the 4.5V and 12V train sets as part of the Blue Era which was named because of the rail color. These train sets used additional conductor rails mounted between the standard 4.5V rails and 12V motors contained in the same housings as the 4.5V motors, but with additional metal contacts attached to the bottom of the housings.

4.5V / 12V consists of 83 sets that ran from 1972 to 1986. As of today, 7750 Steam Engine with Tender is the most valuable 4.5V / 12V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,646.
